Just a few days ago, I received a message on Instagram that changed everything. A fellow photographer, someone whose work I admire, reached out to inform me that we both had earned a spot on Giggster's list of Top Ten Family Photographers in Miami. As I read the message, I couldn't help but think it was a mistake. Certainly, it couldn't be me. But as I opened the link, there it was – my name alongside incredible photographers who have been a true inspiration to me.

This moment feels surreal, like a dream I hadn't allowed myself to have. To be recognized on such a platform and to stand shoulder to shoulder with artists who have fueled my passion is beyond anything I could have imagined.

My nine-year-old self, the one who eagerly awaited film roll pickups at Walgreens or Kmart, is beaming with pride and joy. Back then, I had a little point-and-shoot camera, and the anticipation of seeing the developed photos was pure magic. (*For any Gen Z reading this, film rolls and waiting for photos were a thing, I promise!*)

Photography was always a love of mine, yet I struggled to see myself as a true artist. I believed others were more skilled, more deserving. It took the journey of growing older, gaining confidence, and finding a sense of freedom to finally dive all in. Approaching 30, I decided it was time to pursue my passion wholeheartedly.

This recognition is not just a nod to my present self but a validation for that not-so-confident nine-year-old who loved photography but never thought her work was valuable. It's a testament to growth, perseverance, and the realization that every image we capture holds a unique value and beauty.

To all the dreamers, the late bloomers, and those discovering the artist within – your journey is uniquely yours, and sometimes, recognition comes at the most unexpected and beautiful moments.
